Tough Enough

All the Tatums love Tough Enough. This changes, however, when the little puppy begins getting into mischief. Though Pa still loves Tough Enough, his faith in the little puppy is tested when his chickens begin to disappear. Young Beanie, his sister Annie Mae, and Tough Enough go to town to buy a chain to confine the puppy. On the way, Tough Enough saves the children from peril and Pa discovers the true chicken killer. Set in the Great Smoky Mountains, with beautiful illustrations by Ruth Carroll, this book is both a story of a boy and his dog and a celebration of Appalachian life.
