C.B. Cole Ruby can’t wait for summer. Working for the Forest Service on fire tower duty early in the season means cold temperatures and ugly, brown, mountain views for miles.
But after her little incident last year— an error in judgment so heinous that her father won’t even speak to her about it— Ruby wonders if the perfectly timed arrival of a new employee isn’t really just another way for her father, the head of the local Forest Service department, to keep his eye on her without having to do the unthinkable: speak to his teenage daughter about choices and irresponsibility.
But Jude, the new guy, turns out to be less like a spy for her Dad and more like the perfect guy for Ruby if she would only open up just enough to let him in.
As the distance grows between Ruby and her father and the summer turns hot and dry, a romance may not be the only thing heating up in woods this summer.
Everyone has secrets when they work the tower in Fire Season.
