Three cowboys work as ranch hands on the Tobin Ranch east of El Paso. With Mrs Tobin dying in her bed and Mr Tobin drinking himself into an early grave, the three take the night off to get drunk at a bar in Las Cruces. They find a mysterious bar called 'La Luna' and it looks like it will treat them all right. The bartender even calls some girls he knows to come show them a good time. What they find at La Luna however sets in motion a chain of events as violent as it is unstoppable. Haunting in its sorrow and filled with humor, this is a remarkable debut from one of the country's most exciting new writers.
