After uncovering the mystery of her creation, Rise Hawke has embraced her divine nature and called a tenuous cease-fire with her demanding angel advisor, Dominik. With her abilities flourishing at breakneck speed, she stands dedicated to a single purpose: Earn the black wings of a Herald and take her place within the elite choir. As Rise struggles to prove herself, another battle rages. Unrest in the spiritual realm has spiraled out of control, forcing the Heralds to impose new rules, ones they enforce with increasingly brutal methods.
