The Harlot's Riddle

In this latest Anglo-Norman mystery a wine and mead merchant is found dead in his bed the morning after entertaining a local prostitute in his home for the night and the harlot who was in his company is accused of killing him. Since thre is not any certain proof of her culpability, the constable of the castle, Hugues fitzTurston, launches an investigation into the crime and Estrid is asked to assist him. But their attempt to discover a credible motive proves elusive and it is not until old secrets from the dead merchant's past are exposed that they finally begin to discern a trail leading to the identity of the murderer.
