This is the story of Anastacia Herrera and Rito Corrales, lovers and immigrants like so many who have come to this country seeking the opportunity not merely to survive, but to strive for their dreams. Born in an old Buick in Baja, Mexico, Anastacia was gifted with an intelligence and charm that would lift her from the grinding poverty she was born to. But for Rito, America's promise meant cruel exploitation by those who preyed on "wetbacks."
