from the dust "This tale, in verse, about a sulking little rain cloud, may well become a permanent treasure for young children everywhere. All children know that clouds are supposed to rain, but Gray Rain is different. He sits in the sky, ignoring pleas from the farmers below for some rain to make things green. "I will not come," says the cloud, "too far to jump - when all you get for the jumping is a bump." The distraught and angry farmers, badly in need of rain, finally call to the Winds to "blow and rattle the cloud." So the mightiest Wind-Storm of all rips and tears the stubborn little cloud; but Gray Rain just patches himself together and keeps right on staying in the sky. Then the Winds rock Gray Rain to sleep and move him down so the farmers can tie him to the ground. But the people soon let him go when he argues "when I'm on earth, I'm not rain-I'm a FOG!" All of these attempts failing, the farmers soon hit upon another plan-involving not one stubborn little cloud, but TWO!..............................."
