#2 Geordie Kinloch Quartet
The Novice and Other Stories
Geordie Kinloch, created by writer Gavin Dobson, continues his adventures in this second collection of 12 short stories. Each tale is complete in itself and mostly involve Geordie's escapades at different stages of his life. In two of the tales Geordie does not appear. In the "Novice", Geordie Kinloch is 'set up' by experienced finaciers and finds himself heavily compromised, but fate takes a hand. Palenque is a ruined Mayan City in the jungles of Tabasco in Mexico. It was the intended climax of a bohenian pilgrimage but became the scene of bitter disappointment. In "Geordie" we recognise ourselves - the triumphs and disappointments that life doles out in equal measure. Do we learn from either experience?
