Street Life: My Story

The streets of New York City have always been dangerous and scary, but the introduction of crack cocaine increased the violence and multiplied the homeless population. You see them in doorways and on benches, disheveled and rank; if you notice them at all, you cross to the other side of the street to avoid them. Now take a look at the life of a street person from the perspective of one of the few who survived. Pushers and prostitutes were Wayne Kernochan's only friends, and drugs were his escape. When given the opportunity to make money in the porn industry, it becomes nothing more than his next hit. The money never lasts, never makes a difference for more than a couple days. Yet through it all, he knows he needs to stop, and even seeks help, only to be told there is none.
