Season of the Falcon

Against the background of the blood and turmoil of the American Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars stood Lord Edward Falcon, a man of impeccable manners and exquisite taste. With him no woman's honor was safe, no man's life sacred. With overbearing arrogance and malevolence he governed the great estate of Kingsmead, manipulating passions and destroying lives for his own amusement. Nobody dared to challenge his absolute and vicious authority. But when he engaged a seemingly harmless itinerant artist to capture the family likeness on canvas, his world began to crumble--for the artist succeeded all too well, bringing Lord Falcon face-to-face with his own corrupt nature and the hideous secret of his family's past, a spectre so terrible it threatened to destroy him.
