E. J. Carlson is back in the Keweenaw of Michigan's rugged Upper Peninsula recuperating from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder after a series of CIA failures in Finland. Fishing should do him some good but he snags a corpse in Lake Superior and sets out to identify the dead girl and possibly solve her murder. What he discovers could cost him his own life. Instead of a mid-life crisis this could mean the end.
