Baard Thon has uncovered a cult of traitors and earned the trust of the Archmage. Now he’s got another task: to find a magical battleax. In the hands of the Archmage, the weapon can conquer the Dark Overlord. In the hands of a thief, it can destroy the world. And it has been stolen. Baard races on his dragon’s back to reclaim the artifact so the Archmage can summon warriors and mages—dead and alive—to the Ultimate Battle. He dreams of seeing his late clairvoyant sister and reuniting with his estranged sweetheart who has joined the warrior nuns. He longs to vanquish the Darkside. But the thief would rather kill everyone around than relinquish the battleax.
