The Garden of all the Deities (in 2 volumes) includes 42 short essays of Cao Wenxuan. Half of the essays are created by the author recently, such as Green Mountains, Potato, Allium Macrostemon, Old Man and Buckwheat. Most of the essays describe small incidents and unimportant persons based on what happens in the countryside of Yanbei region. The author straightly expresses his thought and sincere sentiment through the description of local customs and traditions.
