Nick Russo has worked his way from a rough Brooklyn neighbourhood to a reporter at one of the city’s biggest newspapers. But the late 1950s are a hostile time for gay men, and Nick knows that he can’t let anyone into his life. He just never counted on Andy. Andy Fleming’s newspaper-tycoon father wants him to take over the family business. But Andy has no intention of running the paper, he’s barely able to run his life. Instead, he agrees to work for a year in the newsroom, knowing he’ll hate every moment. But Andy finds an ally in Nick. And soon, as Nick shows Andy the ropes, helping him when things go wrong, an unlikely friendship develops. But when their relationship sharpens into deeper feelings both must decide if they’re prepared to fight for what they really want.
