When Tom Hoffman's wife dies of a rare form of brain cancer, he has to raise their two small children and assorted pets. Faced with a demanding career, he's forced to admit that his kids need a mother's touch. But the kids outsmart him and take the matter into their own hands. At least, that's what he finds out when they introduce him to Nancy Foster, his son's Sunday school teacher. She is a lonely mother of two children also, who realizes her children need a father. Unbeknownst to them a love affair is about to begin. There are many beautiful scenes, some of which make you laugh, while others reveal the hidden moments of family life. The learning experiences of a new couple and their trials and joys with a “blended” family are depicted with honesty and affection. Six Chairs is a touching, action-filled portrait of a modern family.
