Class and Gender in British Labour History: Renewing the Debate

Examining the “making” of women within working class as workers, trade unionists, and political activists, this discussion features contributions from leading and up-and-coming women labor historians. Without presenting a chronological survey, this study revisits the terrain vacated by standard labor history and weaves together an intricate relationship between class and gender, particularly within the process of industrialization. Suitable both for the specialist and the generalist, this reference also provides a thematic text linking the separate parts into a coherent whole.
