Lew Grade’s Incorporated Television Company – known as Independent Television Corporation for sales to the United States – became a major producer and distributor of television programmes during a Golden Age of British television. At a time when most television dramas were studio-bound and recorded on videotape, ITC filmed action adventure series on 35mm, creating mini movies for the small screen and selling these throughout the world.Jaz Wiseman has been writing about and researching ITC TV series since the mid-1980s. ITC Entertained The World is an on-going series of podcasts created, hosted and edited by him. Launched in April 2020, these proved an instant hit with fans of iconic shows of the 1960s and early 70s. This book offers transcribed versions of the first six podcasts, recorded between April and July 2020.These podcast episodes explore the following Gideon’s Way, the first British police procedural filmed on London streets; Danger Man (half-hour), the landmark series which heralded a decade of spy fi; Man in a Suitcase, capturing both sides of Swinging London; The Persuaders!, which redefined the notion of small-screen spectacle; The Zoo Gang; and The Saint (b/w), arguably the iconic 60s series.
