Few disorders show with more satisfactory evidence their gastric origin than the exanthemata, or eruptive class.t This is appa The terra Exanthemata comes from the Greek word il-attim effloresco--and implies an efflorescence or eruption on the surface of the body. t To'show the salutary and efficient influence of the Panacea in diseases of the skin, the following interesting case, drawn up by a highly respectable medical practitioner of rent from their causes, symptoms, mode of cure and appearances, upon post mortem examination. In the commencement, there is gastric disorder, which is relieved or mitigated by the appearance of the eruption; but there is a deadly sickness and aggravation of the complaint, should the eruption from any cause be repelled. There is furred tongue, nausea, vomiting, and if the eruptions have not broken out, previous to death, the stomach, when examined after that event, is affected from simple inflammation, even to gangrene and mortification. Erysipelas, or St. Anthony's Fire, is the first of these diseases to which we shall call the attention of the reader. It may attack any part of the body, or extremities, or even the face; that of the face is very frequent, and is ushered in by coldness, sometimes shivering and other symptoms of Pyrexia; then the mental operations medicine, of Baltimore, and published in the " Baltimore Patriot," may be referred to and will furnish conclusive testimony.
