THE CENTURION

Your eyes land on the bed in front of you, and you see a small leather pouch lying there. It's tied up with some twine. You pick it up. It feels surprisingly heavy for its size. A coin purse? But what would anyone want to steal from this place? Well, if you're going to rob anything here, the coin purse is probably your best bet. There are other things that might be worth stealing, but it'll be difficult to get out with them without being seen by someone else who might be watching over you. You put the coin purse into your pocket and continue looking around. The room is rather large; it has two doors leading out from either side, as well as a set of stairs leading upward in the center of the room. The walls are covered with bookshelves, filled with old-looking books. Some of these books seem familiar to you -- they look very much like the ones that were stolen from the bookshop upstairs. There's also a desk against one wall, piled high with papers. There are three chairs arranged at the foot of the bed, an armoire against another wall, and a large chest sitting near the door. You decide to investigate the desk first. On top of the desk is a pile of letters addressed to "Miss Cassandra." Some of them look quite official-looking; others are written in the same hand as those found in the library earlier today. Some of them appear to be bills, along with a few requests for donations, and a few invitations to social events. Most of these seem to come from charities seeking charitable contributions. One letter appears to be a personal invitation to dinner from Miss Cassandra herself, and looks like a request for a donation. It seems that she will be hosting her annual charity ball on the twenty-fifth of next month.
