Bradley Brooks is an Ojibway tribal member on the Red Cliff Reservation in northern Wisconsin. His grandfather sees his young grandson climb a tree with such amazing speed that he chooses the boy's Indian name on-the-spot as Ajidamoo Iniini, Squirrel Man. Everybody calls him Aji. Over time, the boy exhibits other abilities that could be attributed to Squirrel, including super intuition. Two decades later, he hears about an accidental death on the local ferry. His senses tell him it is no accident. As he starts investigating, another accidental death occurs, affecting a family he knows. Then a friend of Aji's dies in yet another accident. He is certain the deaths are actually killings but struggles to prove it. A pattern emerges in which these murders are connected to him and getting closer to his loved ones. Aji finds himself in a race against time to find the killer. At the same time, a mysterious voice in his head saying the word Brother reveals an astonishing, life-altering truth.
