Beyond the Cold War: New Dimensions in International Relations

In December 1991 the Nobel prizes celebrated their 90th anniversary. For this occasion, the Norwegian Nobel Committee--which awards the Nobel Peace Prize--brought together a very distinguished group of Nobel peace laureates and academic scholars. The group discussed the following the history of the Cold War; the past, present, and future roles of arms races and regional conflicts; and the most likely new dimensions in international relations (human rights, environmental questions, Third World debt). This book presents Willy Brandt's introductory paper at the Nobel Symposium, Gro Harlem Brundtland's contribution on the environment, and academic analyses from prominent historians and political scientists.
