All aspects of work in a children's hospital are explored in this book which is one of a series on the world of work. Short magazine style interviews with individuals punctuate the text and provide a focus for literacy work. The book is illustatrated with "on location" photography which shows both the high profile and the less glamorous aspects of the work. It provides answers to questions such as "What does an anaesthetist do?", "How long do you have to train to become a doctor?" "What does a nurse do on the accicent and emergency ward?" The answers are given as the book follows a young boy into the operating theatre and introduces other areas of the hospital giving an up to date insight into the day to day work of the hospital and its staff.
