The object of this work was to collect the legends relating to the nagas that are found in Hindu and Buddhist folklore. The three major sources that the author has drawn upon for this book are the "Mahabharata", the "Jataka" tales and the "Rajatarangini". The chapters are divided under different headings such as Nagas in the great epic, Nagas and the Buddha, Nagas in the Jataka, Nagas in fables and fairy tales etc. This book is a reprint of the 1926 edition.
