National security is threatened in Karl Braungart’s heart-pounding novel, Spy Book 3 (Revised 2019). The longstanding use of spies between the United States and Iraq has just taken a turn for the deadly when Iraq teams up with Iran in order to steal highly classified scientific information. Just as Major Paul Remmich and Major Eric Miller are beginning to heal from their frightening kidnapping ordeal in Europe, they are faced with two Middle Eastern spies who have infiltrated their secret post at Fort Belvoir. Clearly still in danger, the two officers are quietly sent to the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in order to assist with the encryption of medical data during an international biophysics study. Little do they know that two of the visiting scientists, purportedly from Egypt, are in fact from Iran. Part of the Middle Eastern underground movement known as Tariq’Allah, they are in Los Alamos with the sole purpose of stealing scientific information that will aid their own country’s ominous plans.
