The Valley Spirit: Living a Tao-inspired Life

The title of this book, The Valley Spirit, comes from a chapter in one of the more popular translations of the Tao Te Ching, It also comes from a time, years ago, when my close friend Bob and I traveled to Death Valley National Park in the eastern deserts of California and Nevada. There, after we lost our way on a hike, we found ourselves in a mystical valley lined with cliffs marked with rock art and petroglyphs of ancient peoples who lived in this seemingly inhospitable place. We paused for a long time soaking in the aliveness that the native peoples of that valley left behind via their flowing art.May you find that “valley spirit”, that “primal mother” of nature that nurtures the great tree of life and discover that Tao that is always there to guide you.
