It is 2011, just weeks after Osama bin Laden’s assassination, and eleven years after Jack Richards’ brush with death as a Marine peacekeeper in Kosovo. While Kosovo is at peace, the wounds run deep from that bloody war, in which Christian Serbs tried to exterminate Albanian Muslims. It is the perfect incubator for Islamic extremism, and the radicals are incensed by the al-Qaeda leader’s death. When Jack’s old friend, Jusuf Hasani, invites the Richards to Kosovo to help at his orphanage for the summer, Jack’s wife Carolyn convinces him it would be a great experience for their family—especially their adopted Kosovo teenagers. But when a group of vengeful terrorists sees the beautiful Carolyn and an opportunity to make a name for themselves, things go terribly wrong.
