Film noir is known for showcasing a number of characteristics, including a sense of pessimism and suspicion that exudes from a moody atmosphere. Typically centralizing upon a cynical main character, it is this character who is faced with yet another the fatale. While other characters may appear more loyal and trustworthy, the fatale is duplicitous and subversive. Nonetheless, the fatale possesses an unwavering sense of allure that holds the main character transfixed. This volume from the Classic Movie Blog Association (CMBA) features essays on depictions of outlaws in classic cinema. These entries were among the many featured in the Spring 2019 CMBA Blogathon, as written by bloggers belonging to CMBA. A selection of the resulting articles has been published here for the enjoyment of fellow classic film fans.
