SPECULATIVE Miss Alice Sinclair Dorset, MDS, a mature dental practitioner has been forced to leave her privileged life in The City to scramble for clients-with-coin in the wretched villages of a weather ravaged no-man's-land. After chilling encounters with vicious bush-bandits and starving wild dogs she has few options but to hire a mule-wagon for her beloved Reeves Hobson GD8 dental-chair and join an assortment of merchants on a heavily-armed convoy. Her assistants, Jaz and Semple, have been with her for some time but Ned, a hastily appointed gunman, brings nothing but trouble. When they are infiltrated by Rafe, a recently freed bondkid with twinkling toes and countless dreams, their lives become instantly brighter but even more precarious.
