A jewel of Colombian literature that not only depicts the tragic love story between EfraĂn and MarĂa, but also as a representation of the costumbrist movement, has such a great description of the nature surrounding the story that one can almost see and feel it. The translation, opposite to the one made by Rollo Ogden, is faithful to the original work and includes the secondary story of Nay, which has a touching anti-slavery message.
