Zoe Cousteau is a 6th grader at San Thomas Middle School. The previous summer, she explored the old Donaldson place, an abandoned house, and was confronted by a supernatural entity. In her attempt to escape the frightening figure she nearly lost her life. Weeks into the new school year, she’s still haunted by what happened and learns there are kids at her school who actually hunt ghosts. The leader of the Kids from GHoST (Ghost Hunters of San Thomas) is Capslock Graham, a diminutive African American genius who seeks to one day legitimize paranormal studies. Stuart Satterfield, a non-stop eater, is the group’s researcher and hopes to one day become a journalist. Christian Bowles, a 7th grader, is tall, athletic, and sports long red hair. After telling them what happened to her, they invite Zoe to join them on an investigation. She takes to it so well that her new friends think she may be a Sensitive, a person more attuned to the supernatural. More evidence points to this when she helps a ghost haunting an old theater to cross over into the afterlife. Capslock announces their next investigation will be the old Donaldson place, and Zoe has to work up the courage to reenter the old house. The more Zoe learns of the paranormal, the more mysteries there are. Why does the town of San Marco have so many hauntings? Does the theft of valuable jewels have anything to do with the old Donaldson place? Why does the shadowy ghost haunt that old home? Zoe’s return to the old Donaldson place with the Kids from GHoST turns sinister when they learn the entity there is not the only thing that needs to be feared. The man who murdered him is far more dangerous.
