Police detective Hunter Quinn resigned seven years ago and went private. She’d thrived on the excitement and mental challenges, but needed freedom from the bureaucratic trivia. When a client wants her to find and assassinate the terrorist who mysteriously vanished after killing his granddaughter at First Commandment Elementary, she refuses. Nevertheless, she’s intrigued enough to talk with the police detective in charge, Richard Braklin, her former partner and lover. He’s little help. The FBI is puzzled. She pursues other leads with partner and former pro wrestler Bubba that offer no promise until the fervent leader of an anti-gun rally piques her instincts. She goes undercover and joins his campaign. Navigating aggressive sexual advances, she learns of a California senator promising gun confiscation as a ticket to political success supports the movement. Misappropriated government funds and hints of a secret police draw her deeper into a widening conspiracy that threatens her life.
