Megedi Adinaa: The Road to the Land
Ghirmai Negash This small Tigrinya book consists three critical essays dealing with African liberation theology; African indigenous knowledge systems; and a call for the need of a paradigm shift in addressing Africa s pressing challenges with an especial attention to the Eritrean case. The book takes its name from the last essay in the collection, The Road to the Or How Do We Get There? In it, he describes the deteriorating conditions in Eritrea concerning freedom of speech and human rights, and explains why democratic initiatives within and outside the country stagnated creating more repression and political, ethnic, and religious hatred and divisions among the country s political forces and citizens. As a way forward, he advises his fellow-country men and women to fight against internalized fear; all forms of internal and external xenophobia; and recognize the essential values of diversity, mutual-respect, and tolerance.
