Doug Martin is Sheriff in small rural county in Tennessee. He has spent more time breaking up moonshine stills and meth labs than he has solving murders. In fact, the murder of Julie Wooten is a first for him. As Doug goes about the job of finding Julie's murder, he finds that it is a journey of exploration. Not only does he have to deep within himself, he starts to examine his own marriage and what his wife has meant to him. Doug is already fighting alcoholism and a job that he never really wanted. In fact, he refers to himself as Sheriff by default. All of that aside however, he learns just how easy it is for a law enforcement officer to cross the line between doing what is easy and doing what is right. His own values and morals come deeply into play as he tries to find "Who Killed Julie."
