House of the Sixth Happiness: Protecting the Precious Things in Life
Bob Johnston The peace and tranquility of normal everyday life in Vietnam is shattered for everyone you met in ‘Old Fool’s Gold’. The former villain, Vo Dung, was a mere shadow of the pure evil now coming down the road. This person has spent his entire life living for one thing and one alone; the recovery and his possession of the stolen gold from 1968. Now, working by himself, following the scant trail left by Dung, he lives for that single purpose. Nothing is sacred or safe from his twisted desire. Least of all, human life or the damage he can do to a person to achieve his end. The adults at the orphanage – as well as a few old and new friends – are thrown back into a maze of confusion and treachery, deceit and physical pain, as the chase begins once again in dead earnest. After a while it becomes clear that nothing will stop this new threat except death. Everything reaches a middle-of-the-night climax in a brief but intense battle of life or death; contained within the walls of the house – in one room. In the aftermath there is new light shone on true friends. Some were always known, others rose to the occasion in grand form.
