Agnes lives a fortunate life in London, married to crime writer Bill, but at his latest book launch, her attention is taken by another writer, Herbert Shaffer. As their affair goes unnoticed, their relationship intensifies, and when Herbert dies suddenly just before his wife returns from America, Herbert’s secretary, Josephine Long, is left with the complicated task of revealing that Herbert has dedicated his latest book to Agnes.
