The Incredible Journey of Elliott the Eel

The reasoning behind the author (Jason Morgan) creating an illustrated children's book about the epic journey eels have to undertake, was to not only to depict eels in a different light, and move away from the notion of them being a slimy creature that people do not appreciate; but to educate children, and their parents, about the threat fresh water eels (Anguilla anguilla) are under. They are at present listed as being critically endangered, with the very real possibility of them in the future becoming extinct, if something is not done to highlight the importance of the fresh water eel and the impact pollution as well as over fishing has had upon this creature. The purpose of The Incredible Journey of Elliott the Eel is to educate future generations about the fresh water eel and hopefully prevent the extinction of this wonderful creature.
