Since leaving Texas, my mom and I, we haven't stayed in one place for more than two years, if I was lucky. It was at the point I only remembered what it was like to have a friend was by watching the home videos Mom had taken of me with my friend, Thane. Watching those videos is the only time I hear anyone call me Evan. Mom only calls me Evanthe, and I hate it, along with the fact she's dragging me to my third high school since my freshman year; it's a school for troubled teens, but what's going to get me noticed besides my unusual first name is that my mother is also a teacher here. Which is just perfect --it's one more thing my fellow students can bully me over.
