Naomi James A look back at two cases of homicide that scarred states and countries...
The Cleveland Torso Murders - The Cleveland Torso Murder also known as ‘The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run’ was a still unidentified serial killer who got his name for the state of his victims’ bodies when they were discovered; they had been beheaded and dismembered at various joints. Officially, the Cleveland Torso Murderer is believed to have killed 12 people, although most guess that this count was much higher.
Sergey Golovkin - Before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the ultimate demise of the Soviet Union, little was known about the crimes that were committed behind the iron curtain. The law enforcement did their best to keep the information from the western media and paint a picture of a perfect society where murder do not happen. However, one serial killer managed to keep thousands of people on their toes back in 1980s and 1990s. He was known as the Fisher or Boa, and his hunting ground was Odinstovo district which is located in the general Moscow area.
The sadistic way of killing and the very fact that he targeted little boys was enough to scare everyone living in that part of the Soviet Union. Fisher’s identity was unknown for years and he reached the status of an unpredictable killer who was always one step ahead of the police. But detectives worked really hard on this case and eventually identified him as Sergey Golovkin.
