Old Woman at Play has grown out of Adele Wiseman's fascination with her mothers prolific doll making. The result is a book that is personal, intuitive, and infinitely moving. There's an extraordinary dignity, exuberance and nonchalant artistry about this elderly lady who is fighting cancer, but is dancing her way out of life, still weaving the patterns of her memories into dolls.
