Somerset 350: A Pictorial Treasury

From the municipalities of Crisfield and Princess Anne to the shores of Deal Island and the former strawberry fields of Marion Station, Somerset County has a history all its own. Author Jason Rhodes celebrates the county’s rich heritage over the past three and a half centuries in “Somerset 350: A Pictorial Treasury.” With more than 200 pictures spanning from the 1860s to the early 21st century, Rhodes showcases many of the places, events and traditions that have made Somerset County a unique place since its founding in 1666. These include historical homes such as Makepeace and Teackle Mansion; festivals including the National Hard Crab Derby, Deal Island Skipjack Races, Olde Princess Anne Days and Tangier Sound Country Music Festival; landmarks and institutions such as local schools and churches, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Somers Cove Marina; representations of the seafood and agricultural industries; and many businesses no longer around today.
