The Merlin's Wife

When Jane Fromonds agrees to marry the Elizabethan astrologer, John Dee, she is drawn into the world of the Tudor magus and his quest to discover the philosopher’s stone, which he believes will reveal the secrets of healing and everlasting life. At first Dee believes that Jane might have the gift of scrying that will allow him to contact the angels who will assist him, but he later turns to Edward Kelley to help him. The introduction of Kelley into their household begins a series of events that leads to Jane being persuaded into a pact that she knows is wrong, and which leads her to wonder whether she can ever trust her husband again.
