Dolly and Character (Classic Reprint): A Portrayal of Certain Phases of Metropolitan Life and Character
James Lauren Ford Excerpt from Dolly and A Portrayal of Certain Phases of Metropolitan Life and Character
If the young girl had been a diligent student of the drama she would have recognized in the newcomer the stage hero of the commonly accepted type; for he carried himself with an air of self possession and complacency thoroughly in keeping with his attire, which was, to say the least, quite abreast of the latest and most pronounced styles. His features were regular, and their expression good natured. There were lines about his mouth and chin which indicated weak ness of character and irresolution, and seemed somehow to be in complete accord with the silk waistcoat, the gaudy cravat, and the rings and other bits of finery which decked his person.
