The preliminary investigation into the catastrophic failure of a new fighter jet-engine during its endurance test by specialist investigator Dr. John Corbyn revealed features indicating that the failure could have been prevented. Corbyn vowed to establish why the test was allowed to continue and hence avenge the death of his friend the test-bed commander and the rest of his team, With the help of his secretary Sally, and using freshly analysed research data from a new turbine blade material as a bargaining counter, he set out to force his aero-engine company to establish the truth and bring those responsible to justice. However, the complexities of his failing marriage and unaware that an industrial agent from a major competitor was also showing interest, his quest proved to be more difficult than he could ever imagined.
