Generations ago, an explosion in the heart of a city/state called Eisenstadt altered the course of the nation’s history and hurled hundreds of its unsuspecting citizens toward a destiny they could never have imagined. The cataclysm that created the floating island could be explained by science but over the years, the islanders themselves turned away from reason and their history melted into legend and finally became nothing more than scary stories passed down through the generations. Those who lived on “Risenton” were forbidden to practice the dark magic of technology or to use the artifacts that were buried deep in the island’s history like dragon bones sheltering in midnight shadow. And so superstition reigned on the Drifting Isle while knowledge flourished in Eisenstadt below. That’s how it had been for time out of memory. Until now. This is the story of two men--Quintus Mielke, a man with a past; and Flynn Oakley, a man with a future--whose destinies collide when the invention of anew technology brings their two worlds together.
