Edward John Eyre, on His Prosecution, in the Court of Queen's Bench, for High Crimes and Misdemeanours Alleged to Have Been Committed by Him in His Office as Governor of Jamaica, 1868 The learned judge, in conclusion, distinctly declined to enter into the evidence, lest he should prejudice the prisoners or prejudge the case, and he declared it to be the practice of great judges so to abstain.
