British student Walter is in love with Melissa but is travelling on a gap year in South America without her. He sends regular letters home and as an aspiring writer and romantic includes his novel Yellow Dress which explains in detail how much he loves her. Unknown to Walter the letters and the novel are not delivered and end up in the Buenos Aires central post office where an employee Luci, who is tasked with throwing them away, starts to read them and plans to turn the novel into a film. Months later an exhausted Walter comes into the post office, dumps his rucksack on the floor and asks to check his mail...
