The following pages were during leisure hours, while those of my own age were pretending to enjoy the charms of the social cir cle, or Spending their time to no purpose at some place of amusement. Although I have been ridiculed for spending so much of my time alone, I now feel proud to say that I am not unwilling to compare the result of my spare moments with that of any of my early associates.
