The night Kate died, the whispers began to spread through the town pubs and over the garden fences. "That girl wasn't right in the head," they'd say. "Spoke of another world. One with creatures and magic and such. The poor thing." Ethan had also seen the "other place," he'd walked in it, but like the rest of the town, thought he was losing his mind. All he knew for sure was that he loved Kate with everything, with every breath, but when she came to him for help, afraid some evil was after her, he'd kissed her goodnight and sent her on her way. That was the first time his life changed forever. The second was when an old man came after him, with reports of the other world, and claiming to know the way inside. In a place built on memories, a kingdom falling in on itself, a war is coming, and Ethan is torn between siding with the throne, or finding a young woman who disappears after her escort is attacked in the Dourwoods. He believes helping her will atone for abandoning Kate, but all he has to go on is a name and place scribbled on a piece of paper and a necklace that allows him to feel her heartbeat and emotions. Riftwalkers is a fast paced epic fantasy, sometimes dark, but ever hopeful that will keep you guessing until the explosive conclusion.
