Pete Munger piloted a fighter plane in Korea and finds that those skills transfer well to the use of a highly maneuverable television camera. He is assigned to The Zane Cochrane Show, a live low-comedy program whose star is involved in "humorous" antics on screen and off. Pete's camera ability makes the show even more popular, and his career rises along with the star's. But he soon discovers he has gotten in over his head in befriending Zane Cochrane, a selfish and greedy man who will do anything—anything—to get a laugh.
