A story of marital break-up, and a contemporary woman's mind and morals. Returning to work after she has brought up her children, Sharon Shacklady is unfaithful to her husband. Although she finds the warmth and passion of a new relationship irresistable, it is at the expense of staunchly held family values. She risks the loyalty of her children; one defiantly indifferent, the other condemnatory and puritanical, and also the friendship of her old school friend, Kath.
